Why wont my sirrius xm radio play local AM/FM stations?

I bought car and it has a sattelite radio installed and it was great. then his bill came due so until i have a little extra cash i have to go without. but whats bugging me is that I think I should still be able to listen to local stations. But when I press the am/fm button all it does is cycle through the station memory things.

ummm....use the seek button on the radio in your car and disconnect XM if you dont use it
