Can a wireless cctv camera work on a tv monitor without a Dvr Card?
I am going to buy a cctv from e-bay and it says that it will require a DVR Card to work on a Pc.Will it work on a tv monitor without having to buy a Dvr Card?thanks.
It is likely an analog camera with a composite (yellow RCA jack) video connector.
If your TV has an available analog/yellow video-in jack, then yes, the camera will connect to the TV.
If the camera connector uses a BNC video connector, you will need to get a BNC-RCA adapter.
The reason for the DVR (Digital Video Recorder) card for a PC is so that you can connect the analog camera to your computer and record the images - and make the camera video available to whatever computer network the computer is connected to.
Keep in mind that "wireless CCTV camera" is not exactly "wireless". A wired camera has a wire from the camera to the monitoring point - sometimes a DVR or just a TV monitor. This wire carries the video signal and power. Wireless camera are wireless only because they transmit the video wirelessly - they still need power. They transmit the wireless video to a base station - this connects to the TV (or DVR or whatever monitoring device) and the base station needs power.
So... ironically, a "wired" camera with one cable has fewer wiring requirements than a "wireless" camera - that needs 3 cables.
