Device Surveillance

How and where would I go about purchasing a Small Concealed surveillance device, like a Nanny Cam or something

I'd really like to know. Also what would be the cheapest. Links aren't necessary, but would be appreciated if ya got them!

This is the one most-commonly used as a hidden camera. It's in a digital clock, so no one notices it.

It's $180, but the camera seems to be of good quality and it also has a motion detector to activate the camera.

I saw it described on a TV show about how a girl caught a guy breaking into her place several times. It works well.

There are many different types of home security surveillance systems available, so which one is right for your family? The type you choose will depend on a variety of factors including home layout, budget, privacy and safety concerns.

Covert or Overt?

Before you choose a camera, you'll want to consider whether you want them to be visible to the naked eye or strategically hidden. Covert ones are often concealed behind objects and blend in with their surroundings so an intruder will not be able to see them.

The benefit of these is that they can double as nanny cams, keeping an eye on welcomed guests in your home that can't necessarily be trusted at all times. It's also a great way to keep an eye on your children to ensure their personal safety.

The downside to covert home security surveillance is a lack of personal privacy for your family members. Overt onesare mounted in plain sight, but may not necessarily be immediately visible.

In some cases, people will mount signs in their front yards alerting potential intruders that surveillance cameras are in operation. These may thwart criminals, but they can also more easily be disabled or damaged if a perpetrator is determined.

Wireless Home Security Surveillance System

A wireless system is often an inexpensive and effective option for those on a tight budget, those with a small home or apartment, and people who move often. A wireless security type can often be easily self-installed and subsequently moved to new locations with little difficulty. They are small, portable, and can often be programmed so you can view surveillance footage via the internet, which means you can even check on your home while you're on vacation.

CCTV

Closed circuit television is one of the most effective and commonly used types of video surveillance available on the market, but is a step above in price from wireless cameras. You will not only need to purchase a camera (or several), but you'll need to have a digital recording device in order to capture the video.

A CCTV unit will need to be installed by a professional, but if you own a very large property then the cost is definitely worth it. They can be placed both externally and internally and the DVR playback is easy and straightforward.

Domes

These are most commonly seen in offices and other businesses, but can work effectively as a home security surveillance system as well. They come in different sizes and colors to blend in with the décor and layout of the home. They are generally mounted on the ceiling and are darkened domes that can record both during the day and at night. Many even are made especially durable to resist vandalism.

Fake Cameras

Simply can't afford any of these options? Some people have found success with dummy or fake cameras. These are simply plastic camera shells that cannot record or capture any data. They are used as a deterrent to fool potential intruders.

While it may not fool or prevent savvy or highly determined burglars, it just might make you less of a target then the home without any visible security system. These dummy cameras are extremely cheap, and are of course, simple to self-install.

You no longer have to look for a professional to ensure your safety. With the new and improved surveillance camera options, you can be your own spy. To explore your options, visit http://www.surveillancetechnology.com
