The Flip Video is an ultra portable camcorder made for simple video recordings. The camera comes in five versions: the Flip Video, the Flip Ultra, the Flip UltraHD, the Flip Video Mino, and the Flip Video MinoHD. The video cameras are made by a company named Pure Digital Technologies. It was first released in 2006 as a simple reusable variation of the one-time use video camera the company produced for CVS/Pharmacy.

The Flip Video was the first to be released under the Flip name, and is the standard version with a 640x480 resolution. It comes in a 1 GB and a 2 GB version with 30 minute and 60 minutes recording time, respectively, and a simple D-pad and small screen. The Flip Video also does not have an internal power source, so you will have to buy batteries when they run out.

All of the features for the Flip Video Ultra are the same, except they come in a variety of different colors. And the Flip Video UltraHD totes more storage and is optimal for HDMI out with 720p resolution. The Flip Video Mino has many features that the previous versions do not. The camcorder has a built-in lithium-ion battery, so you won't have worry about buying batteries all of the time, is about 2 ounces lighter than the others, and touch-sensitive buttons for the controls.

The new Flip Video MinoHD, released in 2009, is by far the best of these camcorders to be released. It has the same dimensions as the regular Mino, but it also records with 1,280x 720 HD resolution at 30 fps. This camcorder also has an internal storage of 4 GB or 8 GB and has a 2 hour battery life.

One of the things that have made these camcorder so innovative is the pop-out USB plug. With the pop-out plug you won't have to worry about losing the cord, which adds to its portability. Another thing is the ease of use. All you literally have to do it point and shoot your video.

With a easy installation process, the Flip Video software is also as simple to use as the cameras themselves. With the software you can extract the videos you have recorded right onto your computer hard drive or send them directly to a family member or friend. Also, if you are into sharing videos on social websites or YouTube, the software makes it easy to upload them directly to your account. The built-in software also features a video editing program. With this program, you can easily do simple editing, like changing the color of your video, adding music, or cutting parts out of the recording.

But, this product doesn't come without flaws. Some reviewers have had some issues with the camcorder, saying that the memory is too small and they would like an external memory card slot to boost their recording time. Some also say that the battery life could be longer and that the lack of settings on the camera is disappointing

All in all, the The Flip Camcorders. offer a great simple camcorder that has some of the best video quality compared to others on the market, has great price value, and is so easy to use that even inexperienced people will find it easy.

Flip Cameras are really high on my list for great reason. If you also agree feel free to visit my site to learn more helpful reviews about The Flip Camera.

Do FPS of security DVR cards make a difference when viewing live from the internet?

Do FPS of security DVR cards make a difference when viewing live from the internet?

Is there a limit to the number of FPS you can get from viewing a security camera from online live?

Hello

DVR's do not normally limit the amount FPS (frames per second) or the IPS (images per second) for live viewing they simply try to upload live images from the cameras. The determining factor of how fast your cameras will stream over the internet is the file size of the DVR.

File size is crucial to streaming because most DVR’s on the market record at real time performance (30FPS per channel) so on a 4CH is trying to send 120, 8CH 240, and a 16CH 480 images per second which requires way to much bandwidth even for the most extreme internet connections.

The smaller the files size the more images that are able to be sent and the faster they can be processed improving both FPS and speed. File size is the heart of any DVR and goes far beyond just its streaming capabilities as it also determines the recoding storage time, how much you can back up at once, how fast it renders and searches video.

The file size of a DVR impacts the performance of the DVR in just about every aspect from speed to longevity and is often the most import spec of any DVR.

Not all DVR are created equal In fact, there are many options that offer varying performance much like the automobile industry. In the world of DVR's you can find the equivalent of a $10,000 Kia and a $350,000 Ferrari and everything in between. Both have 4 wheels and windshield but that where the similarities end, it’s under the hood that counts. Just like any other consumer electronic in the end you get what you pay for.

If you are buying a DVR and streaming is a high priority I suggest get them to do a demo and connect to the DVR to make sure it is able to stream fast enough for your needs. Most DVR say they have Remote Viewing but it is often to slow and laggy to be of use. Some good DVR brands that I recommend are Bosch, Pelco, Honeywell and Ascendent.

I have done projects that required cameras to stream over satellite and cellular networks and the only DVR that could provide the video streaming was Ascendent Technology Group’s X3 DVR. To give you an example of what a good DVR should stream like bellow are instructions on how to connect to Ascendent X3 DVR using internet explorer.

This makes a great demo as it is up 24/7 and camera 1 is a PTZ camera which allows you to Pan Tilt and Zoom real time over the internet using the controls located to the right.

Instructions on how to connect to Ascendent’s DVR with internet explorer

1)24.66.224.223 into address bar (no www. or HTTP)
2)Install active X control
3)Hit “Connect)
4)DVR type PC
5)DVR code SITE-100
6)User ID Demo (case sensitive)
7)Password demo (lower case)
8)IP address: 24.66.224.223
9)And hit connect

Hope this Helps,
